Kromeister
- By day: David Cromarty, 35, partner in The Peppermill Deli and fish processor at Orkney Herring Co.
- Style of Music: Mainly hard rock/metal but sometimes treading on dodgy ground.
- Why Kromeister?: Ray “Sherur” Shearer christened me Kromeister some years ago and it seemed appropriate for our kind of music. High Voltage was just a snap decision a couple of weeks before the club opened.
- Refuelling: Curry preferably hot! Mince and tatties. Red wine, gin and tonic and bottles of Miller in equal measures.
- On the box: Little Britain or Nighty Night or maybe Father Ted, I can’t really decide but they’re all mad!
- On the web: Can’t say there is a site that I visit regularly.
- Getting into the groove: Drink beer and listen to songs that we’ll never be able to play!
- First record bought: The first records I bought with my own money were Kiss’ Destroyer and Creatures of the Night LPs and unfortunately no, we’ve never been able to play songs off either record. But Kiss are still “the hottest band in the world”.
- Crowd pleasers: Basically any track by AC/DC yawn! There’s many a track I’d be mortified to play but the one we have is 500 Miles by The Proclaimers. I hereby hang my head in shame.
- Heroes: No one is ever worth idolising!
- And another thing: Just recently we got asked to play Poison which we thought was the band so we did, but the girl came back and said she meant the song, Poison, by Alice Cooper. We played it later too, but in actual fact she really wanted some kind of dance remix of the song!
However it was the first time we played Poison (the band) which we enjoyed if no one else did.
